Terribly sad, Jim. Quite a shock. Such a good bloke. Favourite memory: the way he gave up his bed in Freo while covering the America's Cup to save two drunk, holidaying cadets (yeah, I may have been one) who had missed the last train to Perth. He slept on the floor. Gentleman.

Last night a TV programme spoke only of the #family. Nothing else exists. We #childless/free do exist. Are we nonhuman? Is it becoming #discrimination? Many of us feel emptiness and loss. #Loneliness. Many are #ageingwithoutchildren not by choice. Acknowledgement please.

What is a mostly benign thing that drives you up the wall? For me it’s a lack of self awareness in public. People who slam to a halt in front of you while walking, people who get on a train and stop at the door so you can’t get on, people blithely blocking supermarket aisles.
