Today we said goodbye to my cousin Hayley. She was taken from us in the cruelest of ways. Tonight I'm hugging my daughters even harder and thinking of other victims of domestic abuse.
My grandma didn't want to do anything for her birthday today so my family gate crashed her house and took for her dim sum. 97 and still looking incredible.
Come and meet our gorgeous lil man. He's now on antibiotics but has been kissed about a million times by the girls to balance that out. Forgot how small newborns are.
Some good news! Zay's kidneys are no longer serious. Still slightly inflamed but it's decreased in size. Consultant has booked him in for another scan in three weeks with the hope it will be normal.
Big love to my parents. Since Tuesday, they have held down the fort by cooking, cleaning and looking after our three girls. They've drunk all my booze but that's for another tweet.
I still can't believe it but some exciting news to share with you all. Amelia and I are expecting another little baba. This is their tiny arms waving to you all. 👋🏾
Some bloody great news to come back to!!! Letter from neonatal consultant saying they got the scan wrong and Zay's kidneys are perfectly normal now and he can stop the antibiotics. Party time in the Braganza house!!!
Earlier this month we suffered a devastating loss of a young child from our school. Today our families donated over a hundred toys to Kings College Hospital in her memory. Every child on the ward will get a present for Christmas. 😭😭😭
A child with ASD can draw the entire network of the London Underground by memory. He knows I love maps so gave this to me today as a he is moving schools. I blubbed big time.
Sixth day of strike action tomorrow. That's six days of no pay. Nothing from the Ed Sec but a snarky lecture by a baroness. Big love to those educators striking again and on picket lines.💪🏿
A slimmed down primary curriculum is much needed but let's put one thing in the bin straight away. Cursive handwriting. Seren's Year 7 teachers told her she doesn't need to join. Why are we breaking our backs in primary to get them to join? Madness.
None of us want to strike again. We've already taken a 4 day hit on our pay. I'd rather be with my class getting on with it. But, as a profession, we are getting collectively poorer. Big up teachers who are striking tomorrow! 💪🏿
My soul was with everyone on picket lines, rallies or marches. Unfortunately my two girls are ill. Gutted I missed it all. Is this the best sign though? 🤣 Photo credit

Can I afford to strike? 100% not. I'm the main provider for my household of five. Will I strike? 100%. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Big up all my teachers who are striking this week. 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
None of my teaching colleagues want to strike tomorrow. We want to be in class, teaching our kids. But something has to change. My partner left because of stress. We are collectively getting poorer. That's why I'm striking.
I've gone from a class of 19 to 32 and it feels like an impossible job at times. I'm flapping against the wind. Class sizes should be no more than 20 and I'll fight anyone who thinks differently.
Just got back home and my parents have cleaned, folded clothes and even restocked our fridge. Now this is the mad bit my dad has REPAINTED our entire hallway. Complete legends.
Saw some negative chat earlier about SATS breakfast. My step-daughter is super excited to go in tomorrow, have breakfast with her pals and chill before school. Gets everyone in, relaxed and catch jokes with their pals and teaching staff. Big up the SATS breakfast. 👏🏾
Big celebrations in our house tonight as Amelia has secured a teaching post from Sept. After each one of our kids she has questioned whether she could face the job but she comes back stronger. We are all super proud of her.
How do other teacher parents cope? Giving your all for the kids in school then having the patience and energy for your own kids. I love both but blimey it's tough.
Parents have just rocked up unannounced with these bangers from tandoori corner. Now playing with the three girls while we drink wine. God bless grandma and grandad.
My favourite thing to do with a new class is to sit with them at lunch and normalise eating ethnic pack lunches. This week I've seen jollof, keema, roti and hardo bread. Kids then aren't worried about whipping them out. Plus I find out whose family cooks the best food.
A lot of chat on here about displays so I'm chipping in. Every single one of my boards is backed like this. I chose whatever colours were left in the stockroom. I'll put up headers next week. As the year progresses I'll add stuff to help them or celebrate their work. Simple.
I've got a kid in my class with the most challenging behaviour. Having taught him for nearly two years we've got him to a really good place both socially and emotionally. He leaves tomorrow to another school. Sometimes this job sucks. I'll miss him big time.
Baby update. One kidney is perfectly fine but the other is pretty swollen. Doctors seem to think it will clear up with antibiotics so it's non-urgent. They'll have a few scans in week one and six of their little life. Tiny celebration.
My student has struggled with teaching the class but today she absolutely smashed it in front of the deputy and her uni lecturer. I was at the back of the class silently cheering her on. Couldn't be prouder.
Nigel Farage tells a crowd of voters in Clacton that schools are "poisoning the minds of your children and grandchildren".
Dangerous rhetoric at a time when growing numbers of teachers are suffering abuse and threats
Today marks the first anniversary of my cousin's murder. The scumbag selfishly took his own life rather than face the consequences. I still can't believe it all. RIP Hayley Burke ♥️
I love going to my parents. They look after their grandkids, we eat all their food and they give us the most random stuff. Left with a massive ketchup and 60 dishwasher tablets this week.
My heart is full! A group from my old Year 6 class came back today to say they smashed their GCSE English paper. And that my friends is why teaching is the best job in the world.
After teaching for a while, you become hardened to some safeguarding disclosures. I still struggle to hear a kid telling me they're hungry. That their mum didn't eat last night. That she makes a choice to feed them. That there's nothing in the fridge. It's bloody 2024!
After fourteen weeks after submitting Eliza's replacement passport, extraditing for fast track, calling daily for two weeks and now showing my ugly face, we have Eliza's passport.
Everyone gave us different advice. The system is messed up. See you soon France. 🇫🇷
Rarely post a pic of my gorgeous lady but it's her birthday today. Can't believe we are on baby number four. Big celebrations later with super spicy curries and a million samosas.
Ofsted could have paused, seriously reflected and come up with something in January. We've only got a few weeks of term left. Na pals, 90 mins of training will cut it. They couldn't care less about school staff. Rest In Power Ruth.
Greatest day in my teaching career!! We finally won a competition!!! Nine years of hurt all gone. The best thing is we get to represent our school in the London Finals at the Oval.
