Me at my most patriotic: complaining about U.S. foreign policy in front of an American flag, in the Congress, wearing a red-white-and-blue ensemble.

Recently, @JustinTLogan and @Le_Shif participated in a Capitol Hill briefing to discuss the primary themes of the 2025 NATO Summit and the options for the United States to rebalance the transatlantic relationship:

Pleased to have a piece in @amconmag contextualizing Trump's Iran strike in U.S. foreign policy. Bottom line: this strike was straight out of primacy - it sure as heck ain't realism and restraint.

Pleased to have a piece out with @AIIANational on Trump and NATO after the first summit. BLUF: Trump's changed the means of US engagement but not the goal of engagement itself. Take a look!.

That DJT may keep the US out of the Isr-Iran war is not evidence of his "restraint." This is a war he could plausibly have prevented, & exacerbated once it began. If he skips intervention, it's "restraint" only like a drunk driver avoiding a pedestrian is good behind the wheel.

Good times. Now we get to test our theories of entrapment, horizontal escalation, and preventive war. Good. Times.

It's safe to say that this administration seeks to bring Harvard to task not for any legitimate purpose, but simply to silence dissent from academia. Academia is not perfect. Still, if you value free speech &US competitiveness writ large, you ought to oppose the admin's actions.

The Canadian elections are, ultimately, a reminder that balancing > bandwagoning even under adverse conditions.

Thus, Gorby's continued opposition to the latter thus tells us nothing about the pledge itself. Instead, the fact that the Sovs agreed to 2+4 and other negots after the pledge is much more informative: the Sovs moved in response to the US-FRG pledge.

I don't think is right. The non-expansion pledge came as the Q was what could be done to move the Sov on German reunification without imperiling the extant FRG-NATO relationship. The Q of whether a reunified FRG would be entirely within NATO is difft. 1/2.

But in this particular case, there is a specific reason to dismiss Lavrov's comments as a perversion of history. If an oral contract was indeed understood as such by the Soviets, you would expect Gorbachev to act accordingly and drop opposition to unified Germany's NATO.

Surely it's no coincidence that Springsteen dropped a massive song collection - including work from the early 80s - just as the economy tanks. I will own this conspiracy theory.
