It is funny to me how many people continue to label waterfall incorrectly and misrepresent design first approach to software development. True waterfall was months and months of crafting documents, typically called Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) that were then
It is interesting to see that many use claude code to implement a waterfall development workflow. They write a multi pages comprehensive spec, then let cc run on its own. There is a reason why people moved away from waterfall in favor of a more iterative workflow where specs are

I agree that the energy shortage will be an issue as things stand today. However, constraints spark creativity. With the demand for more energy, alongside rising hardware prices, there will be a shift to other, more efficient solutions to accomplish the same things generating
Jeff Bezos “Everyone has their own data center, and that’s not going to last” He said the quiet part out loud The grid can’t keep up, we need substantial power upgrades to fuel AI demand The AI trade isn’t just software, it’s energy Everyone should watch this video

Quit trying to sell me on this forced interest cap, I’m already in. Telling me that those with poor credit scores should pay 29% or higher APR is so that they and others can have access to an airport lounge and rewards points that are often pennies on the dollar spent is absurd.
Your credit card rewards exist because someone else is paying 25% APR. Cap that at 10% and the points don’t survive. I spent years working inside fintech and card programs. That interest margin is the invisible buffer that makes rewards, lounges, and credits pencil out. Capping

The reason why RAM has become four times more expensive is that a huge amount of RAM that has not yet been produced was purchased with non-existent money to be installed in GPUs that also have not yet been produced, in order to place them in data centers that have not yet been

Microservices are not a technical decision. They're an organizational one. If you have: - 5 developers - 1 product - Shared codebase ownership - Daily standups where everyone knows everything You don't need microservices. You need focus. Microservices solve organizational

Everyone is either offended or excited about “vibe coding.” It’s all the rage and going to solve all your problems, or it’s the next great evil spewing crap code all over your systems. Those of us who love well structured clean code which is modular and concise seem to be a dying

A legend has passed. I watched Stewart Cheifet when I was a kiddo, after his show and a few others ripped my grandfather to gift me a Commodore 64. That started a multi-decade career in software. I recently revisited some episodes on YouTube and was reminded how important the

DevRel in 2026 is gonna be wild for API folks
I think you are *crazy* as an API company if you do not a) thoroughly test onboarding for the major tools (repeatedly, since they can degrade via you for no reason at any point upgrade or any time and b) you should probably have a team focused on a non-human customer.

It is important to have a family tradition
Mrs W wants to watch ‘Love Actually’. In an hour we’ll get to the scene where Emma Thompson opens her present and discovers it’s a Joni Mitchell CD. Then, as per every year, Mrs W will look at me with watery eyes and say ‘if you ever do that to me I’ll chop your balls off’.
