Mike Burrows in 2025: 97th percentile in offspeed run value (+9). Just tweak that four-seam fastball shape and location a bit…

@Chandler_Rome If trade is completed, outfielder Jacob Melton and right-hander Anderson Brito would head to the Rays.

The Astros, Pirates and Rays are in serious discussions about a trade that would send right-hander Mike Burrows to Houston, infielder Brandon Lowe to Pittsburgh and involve multiple other players, sources tell @Ken_Rosenthal and me.

A healthy Arrighetti could be critical for the Astros next year. Let's hope his elbow is okay!

Steven Okert's 2025 resurrection: 10.5 K/9 (up from 8.41) 2.39 BB/9 (cut in half) 0.75 HR/9 (nearly cut in half) 2.76 FIP, 2.56 xERA The advanced metrics say he was actually UNLUCKY. Breaking it down https://t.co/WcTv7ljAJ6

On November 5, 2024, the Astros signed Steven Okert to a minor league contract. The move was unheralded, as relievers in their late 30s who sign minor league deals rarely make waves. It was an easy…

Fangraph's look at Miguel Ullola from their July top Astros prospect report, well worth the read on the whole system. https://t.co/MMSWAvXgbp

Ullola's low release point, a "rising" fastball that he can dial up. I think Ullola is going to make a name for himself next year, especially with the need for pitchers.
HOU RHP Miguel Ullola (#5 in HOU system) The 23 year old spent all last year in AAA posting a 3.88 ERA and striking out over 10 guys per 9. Command has been an issue but the stuff is awesome. Elite cut ride fastball with a sharp SL and a CB and CH that are great secondaries.

The Astros dynasty is known for their analytics. We forget how much of our success was driven through an elite international talent pipeline. The tweet below barely scratches the surface.
No-hitter trio with lowest bonus sign in history: $25,000 and three no-hitters for the Houston Astros. Give this piece of art a title. -Framber Valdez $10,000 -Cristian Javier $10,000 -Ronel Blanco $5,000 Scouts: Román Ocumarez and Oz Ocampo.

Only 4 pitchers in MLB history have posted 8.0 K/9 with 100+ IP at age 42+: Nolan Ryan Randy Johnson Roger Clemens Justin Verlander Should the Astros bring back the future HOFer? My latest on why JV still has gas in the tank ⚡️ https://t.co/FwSD6Q3l2f

As we head into next year, we face a likely departure of one of the Astros’ aces, removing a chunk of excellent innings from our stable. The team is in a precarious position, with an aging ro…
