Interesting story here for Tower Hamlets folks. Given recent events, it would be no surprise if ministers want a update whether there is any real progress towards fixing the serious governance failings in the Town Hall under Mayor Rahman + his Aspire cllrs

I just chaired a busy meeting with Bow West residents and the Bow Neighbourhood Safety police team. Constructive conversations linked priorities of local residents with the police including speeding, anti-social behaviour in the Malmesbury estate and retail crime by the station

Out in Bow this evening with @BowwestLabour, lots of concern from residents about housing and Clarion failing to address repairs, and fly tipping.

In July, we were told the creation of a drug rehab centre in Roman Road market wasn't a 'key decision' as it didn't affect two wards. Have just heard that the future of the Hackney Road hostel in a ward represented by an Aspire cllr is now a key decision as it impacts two wards🤔

After nearly 10 years helping tenants trying to get Clarion Housing to deal with the subsidence affecting the front walls of its houses on Fairfield Rd, i am pleased this work has finally been completed - and done quite nicely too. Next step, weatherproof windows and patio doors!

Bow east councillors have outlined in @TheSliceTowHam how once again Bow residents are being ignored and not given a voice on the decisions made about their local neighbourhood. In this case, the council's refusal to engage with residents on the substance misuse recovery centre.

We've had another few sessions talking to residents in Bow over the last couple of weeks. Alongside issues over housing, new concerns were raised over extended, indefinite mobility issues as the council fails to install charging points in its notified timeline.

Each time we stand up in this House to question the Foreign Secretary there is a new horror in Gaza unfolding. I welcome increased humanitarian funding from the UK Government. But the situation on the ground is barbaric. Yesterday I asked, where is this Government’s red line?

Really frustrating that the poor management of Wednesday's Full Council meant we didn't get to debate our motion on Mayor Rahman's failure on social housing. We will come back to it, but meanwhile tenants + homeless families will continue to suffer thru the lack of accountability

✅ We welcome the first Ministerial Envoys’ report assessing council improvements. ⚠️ Progress made, but transparency and governance still major concerns. Mayor Lutfur Rahman must urgently address ongoing issues to meet residents’ expectations. 👉
