Wat achtergrond van mijn onderzoek. Gisteren gaf ik een jeugdcollege over vervloekingen in #Heerlen. Dit komt voort uit mijn onderzoek naar de verspreiding van Latijn binnen het @LatinNowERC project Daar deed ik onderzoek naar #meertaligheid in #Spanje en #Portugal in de Oudheid
U denkt misschien 'Vloeken als een Romein? Voor een groepje 8 tot 12 jarigen?' Ik leer ze niet vloeken maar wel over vervloekingen, godsdienst en schrijven in de Romeinse tijd. Dat aan de hand van Romeinse vloektabletten uit Bath (🇬🇧) dat Aquae Sulis (water van Sulis) heette.

I can't get my head around this. Trees are awesome and this centuries-old one was particularly wonderful and meant a lot to so many.
Officers have condemned the vandalism of an iconic #Northumberland tree and vowed to bring anyone responsible to justice. A full investigation has been launched after the Sycamore Gap Tree was felled overnight in what police believe to be a deliberate act of vandalism. (1/3)
