Throughly enjoyed the opportunity to catch up for a natter with football writer @ScottBurns75 before the football on Saturday. Can confirm he doesn't reveal his sources and (mostly) doesn't write the headlines. You can read his scribbles most days in @Daily_Record ✍️

This news also makes it even more vital that the proposed Heat in Buildings Bill is robust. We need deadlines to end use of fossil fuel boilers before 2045 so industry can plan ahead, and we can create and protect jobs in Scotland.

On @STVNews later... News of potential job losses at Mitsubishi’s clean heat factory in Livingston underlines the need for clear policy direction and regulation by Scottish Government to drive demand and give business confidence. #Climate #JustTransition

By not achieving our 2030 ambition, there’s an increased burden on other nations to cut their emissions, and only delays the benefits for people in Scotland like warmer homes and cleaner air. It is vital we also kickstart a fair transition to climate & nature friendly farming 2/2

Years of under-delivery have led Scottish Government having to changes its #climate targets. The proposed bill must come with increased action to get emissions falling now to ensure that these new targets aren’t also missed. 1/2 https://t.co/juBIzRfs2W

Given other budget decisions, it’s disappointing to hear nothing about how existing agricultural support will be shared out more fairly and in ways that supports the industry to adopt climate and nature-friendly farming. #PfG

The inclusion of a Natural Environment Bill is very welcome – and one we have campaigned for along with others. Of course, we won’t come close to halting nature loss without funding like the Nature Restoration Fund and better distribution of existing funding for farm support.#PfG

Insulating homes, fitting heat pumps & heat networks are the best ways to tackle high energy bills and the climate crisis. However, it’s vital that deadlines to end use of fossil fuel boilers are introduced before 2045 to give industry confidence and meet our climate targets #PfG

However, it’s a hammer blow to learn that funding needed to support action on climate and nature is to be cut and that half a billion pounds, raised from Scotwind, that was to have been invested in tackling the climate and nature crisis is to be wiped out. #PfG

More detail needed, but it’s welcome to see a Heat in Buildings and Natural Environment Bills which, if robust enough & delivered, could help drive action to cut household fuel bills alongside carbon emissions & to begin to restore nature #PfG

@IanMurrayMP @GillianMSP @Ed_Miliband @alasdairallan Done well, a successful just transition plan at #Grangemouth could be the template for the rest of the country, where we need to see similar plans developed for every high emitting facility. 3/3

The recent announcement by UK and Scottish government ministers, to work collaboratively to secure a sustainable future for #Grangemouth, is therefore a welcome first step. 2/2 @IanMurrayMP @GillianMSP @Ed_Miliband @alasdairallan

As the @JTCScotland report makes clear, there’s still time to put #Grangemouth on path toward a just transition for workers and the local community, but only if we act quickly and only if every stakeholder begins pulling in the same direction. https://t.co/US7dWJcbwV 1/3

🏠🔥 With heating of homes responsible for a significant proportion of our carbon emission, it's great to see the @heraldscotland begin a series looking at the role heat pumps could play. https://t.co/gNAQkMdzxK By @vicky_allan

I agree with @JohnSwinney that the 'threat posed by the twin crises of climate & biodiversity loss – is real and present, but also an opportunity'. Again i hope to see this reflected in PfG with steps to support farmers adopt nature-friendly methods & action on heat in buildings.

Very welcome to hear @ScotGovFM @JohnSwinney identify tackling the climate emergency, by investing in green energy and infrastructure, as one of his priorities. I hope this signals positive steps on renewables as well as heat in buildings in the next Programme for Government.

Scottish Government warned against dumping key green measures - 5 years on from Nicola Sturgeon’s declaration of a 'climate emergency'. It’s feared flagship policies to decarbonise domestic heating could be under threat. I spoke to @WWFScotland & others.

It’s feared flagship policies to decarbonise domestic heating - such as by phasing out gas boilers and replacing them with heat pumps - could be under threat.
