The Supreme Court ruling allowing jurisdictions to arrest unhoused people for sleeping outside is unjust and misguided. This will only worsen homelessness. We need additional resources for affordable housing and services, NOT criminalization of our most vulnerable people.

Working class NYC neighborhoods of color saw 2x higher rates of eviction filings and housing violations in 2022-2023. Along with 31,000 severely distressed units, some 59,000 units in these communities may be in financial distress, with owners potentially interested in selling.
