Heathcliff and Cathy are siblings and that’s really important to any Wuthering Heights enthusiast

most of the criticism about EF is flat out stupid like the charli xcx soundtrack and the demand for accurate period costumes but the racism is Undeniable there as the elephant in the room

idk white heathcliff with gone with the wind references are blatantly racist directional choices and Heathcliff’s racial otherness is a plot device that is just the main driving force of the novel BECAUSE ITS THE REASON HE CANT BE WITH CATHY oh my goddd people are so dumbbbb

I think people don’t realize that Camille is abusive because she is sympathetic and she doesn’t fit the idea of a predator basically people feel a weird vibe but they don’t call it incest or sexual abuse because it’s so distant from the social imagination

in the pool scene when Camille enters in the scene the camera shifts to become voyeuristic, we see more of Amma’s body. In the book of course we can read her thoughts and we know she’s attracted to her sister but in the show they convey that by showing Camille’s POV

the slow motion, the dreamy feeling, the song… it’s shot as a classic romantic scene. I hate using this rhetoric but if it was a male character staring at his sister people wouldn’t doubt he was a predator lol because he is!!!!

can I say I don’t think they have downplayed it … Amma is the most sexualized on screen when we see her through Camille’s POV, we see her underwear in scenes with Camille, and then we have this scene at the party where she is staring at her sister:

Do people think that Korean films are like iPhone models where each new films are simply a new iterations of the existing work just cause they tackle similar social issues and have the same social context?
I've just seen No other choice. If parasite is the only movie you should watch in 21st century, then No other choice is the updated version of that film that's more relevant & resonating with horrors of late stage capitalism. Park chan wook, you're a grandmaster. 9/10.

Every film is political. Most political of all are those that pretend not to be: 'entertainment' movies. They are the most political films there are because they dismiss the possibility of change. - Wim Wenders in 1977

as a feminist I am concerned about incest because the family unit is like the primary source of gendered violence
