It is impossible to compete let alone be sustainable running major events at scale in smaller regions without dev support, government funding, or blood oil money. The only other big money is RU stream rights and gambling and they largely just care about EU where their audience is.

This is a huge bummer but honestly felt inevitable once Valve stopped actively propping up other regions with the DPC / 3rd party crowdfunding. Most of the organic playerbase / money comes from EMEA, and EFG/Saudi Investment Fund totally dominates the 3rd party tournament scene.
Man, the Dota landscape sure is mainly EU/EEU now. Bummed to see how non-international it's become.
