“I care less about mistakes and I care more about responses. I don’t care about the mistake that got us there. I care about what we’re going to do next. We talk a lot about mental strength and mental fortitude and the skills that go into that. They’re able to be themselves,”

The University of Texas issued an RFP for a new arena and student-athlete housing next to Moody Center. The 6,000-seat venue would host the powerhouse volleyball program, with 300 athlete-focused residential units also in the plans. https://t.co/AxYD1LdhTG

“Great moments come from great opportunity.” Herb Brooks 🥇 Before the 1980 Miracle on Ice, he reminded his team what greatness is built on. Not luck. Not hype. But preparation. https://t.co/yasyXfq5xj

Kobe Bryant was asked: “You are the best player in the world. Why would you spend 2 hours on some fundamental drills and do them over and over again?” He responded: “Why do you think I’m the best player in the world?” #ItTakesWhatItTakes

Getting very angry at yourself after making mistakes in games isn’t going to help you play any better, so you might as well stay calm and continue to do the best you can. Leave your mistakes in the past. Learn from them, move on, and focus on the next play!

Keep your kids playing multiple sports for as long as possible. Don't listen to club coaches pushing them to specialize. They'll become more well-rounded athletes and people (and far less prone to injury/burnout) if they don't. If you're good enough, colleges will find you.

Dear young athletes- keep this photo saved to your phone and show the next person who says you have to focus on one sport in HS. The amount of kids I’ve heard say “I can’t risk getting hurt” or “my coach won’t let me” drives me crazy. You get one shot to be a HS athlete.

Mental toughness is about pushing yourself to stay outside of your comfort zone, both physically and mentally. Discomfort is a sign that you're giving your best effort. If you're feeling comfortable, then you most likely need to give more effort.

Six elements of a toxic team culture: 1. Low standards and no discipline. 2. A lack of ownership (excuses/complaining). 3. Intimidation and fear-based motivation. 4. Big egos and selfishness. 5. Bullying and disrespect towards others. 6. Cheating and unethical behavior.
