☎️ Neil from West Derby asks about taxi licensing. 🗣️ “We’re awaiting detail of the legislation. We think it’s the right thing to do and we’ll do everything we can to protect local taxi drivers. We’ll work with local leaders to have a united front.”.

☎️ Mike in Birkenhead asks about plans for the town. 🗣️ “If you look at the Left Bank, it could be enormous. There’s a lot of CA money going into the town. The Mersey ferry is being built there and we’ve put money into the construction college next door. ”.

☎️ Lisa ask about Southport Town Hall gardens and Southport Pier. “I spoke to the Prime Minister and told him the government needed to support the town and he said that he would. Then the announcement was made on the Pier and the Town Hall gardens, which was amazing.”.

“The idea is to raise the money and it will enhance the visitor offer we have. Our visitor economy is worth £6.25bn and we want more people to come here. It’s not an ideological thing, it’s so we can democratically raise funding to spend on our area.”.

☎️ Lisa asks about the proposed visitor levy. 🗣️ “When you book to go to Barcelona, no one says they won’t go because of a local tax. People here will get used to it. It’s not a tax against local people, it’s for people who stay in hotels.

☎️ Sean from Seacombe asks for an update on the new Mersey ferry. 🗣️ “Both our ferries are 60+ years old now. There were some electric issues we had to deal with but services have now resumed. We’re spending £26m on a new ferry that’s being built over in Cammell Laird.".
