Marine mammal strandings can occur for a variety of reasons, it’s important to give these animals space and notify professionals. If you encounter a sick or stranded marine mammal, alert the nearest lifeguard and report the sighting to @MMCCLA at 1-800-39-WHALE.

This afternoon at Torrance Beach, @lacolifeguards responded to a stranded juvenile dolphin. Upon arrival, lifeguards assessed the situation and took immediate action to help stabilize the dolphin, keeping it hydrated, and ensure it was properly transferred to @MMCCLA

@LACoLifeguards have lifted the beach closure in Redondo Beach. Lifeguards continue to monitor the situation. Please report any shark sightings to the Lifeguards.

As anticipated, hundreds of thousands of beach patrons flocked back to the coast this past weekend. With more @lacolifeguards in more towers, we had more eyes on the water—which led to over 300 ocean rescues, 230 medical aids, and 22,667 preventative actions. (1/2)

With water and air temperatures continuing to rise, and many schools throughout the greater Los Angeles area now out for summer, @lacolifeguards had another busy weekend, with over 240 ocean rescues, 221 medical aids, and over 19,000 preventative actions. (1/2)
