Really lovely to go along to Team Pumpkin Boxing gym again. Always such a warm and welcoming lot! Spreading the word about places like this is the best.

Huge respect for Chris Clacken who treats youth mentorship as a 'lifelong' commitment 🙏 I went along to see one of the music sessions he runs, in Dudley, as part of the Community Skills and Knowledge Network (CSKN) and asked him what his job is really like #MyTomorrow

I met Sienna at the #MyTomorrow launch in Wolverhampton. She is so impressive & passionate we just had to support her efforts and her own campaign #daggersdown 'Operation kit out' - will bring life saving bleed kits to the hotspots of violent crime in Wolverhampton @lynnebaird8

Great to meet @delvic99 yesterday & the Strike 9 team who we're collaborating with as part of the #MyTomorrow campaign. Meeting people who are so passionate about improving the lives of young people who are struggling - really is my favourite part of this job : ) More to come

The young people were so honest, with some suspicion about the bin at first. After speaking to the coaches, I honestly think it's the conversations happening inside - which have led to the increase in weapons surrendered.

Great to get media coverage of these VRP-funded sessions at Pumpkin Boxing, in Brierley Hill. The coaches have been explaining the purpose of the @WestMidsPCC knife bin outside - which saw its biggest ever haul last month, with more than 60 weapons surrendered #MyTomorrow

This was a great one to go and see for myself. It might divide opinion but using relatable mentors with similar lived experiences is effective. The music project gets £12K funding from the VRP for 3 weeks and it's delivered by dedicated youth workers at CSKN! #MyTomorrow #Dudley

A woman in Walsall survived a neck stabbing thanks to a @TheDanielBaird1 #ControlTheBleed🩸 kit. 📍 @OFFICIALWMAS call handlers found the nearest kit, gave the code & guided its use while an ambulance was sent. She recovered. Every UK region needs this service. Govt must act

I've been really busy going out and about this week. The team at Pumpkin Boxing, in Brierley Hill were a delight & yesterday it was @WalsallCouncil's second ever youth summit - a really impressive event. Who says comms officers don't get out the office!?

Crossbow with ammunition among 50 weapons dropped into a knife bin outside a boxing club, where young people are learning about the dangers of knife crime. I'm taking a look round tomorrow to meet the team & see some of the work the VRP funds #MyTomorrow

I went to see a great music project @WestMidsVRP is funding for high risk young people. The funding is needed, but the truth is youth workers are often still doing loads of unpaid hours to make projects like this work, so I'll be celebrating them in my comms soon #MyTomorrow

Right back from my holidays & the first stop was the new youth hub in Walsall. Our Place was created after young people told @WalsallCouncil there was nothing to do & they didn't feel safe in the town centre #MyTomorrow Open Monday - Friday after school and it's all free!
