Every year in Canada, 14,000 children die from a #RareDisease. That is why the #GoC, through CIHR, is investing $20M in a national pediatric rare disease #ClinicalTrials and treatments network, led by Dr. Thierry Lacaze-Masmonteil and his team. https://t.co/e5GG92jCdm

Hey. You friendly neighbourhood Intensivist here. We are seeing a lot of invasive group A strep in the ICU these days. It’s hitting young and otherwise healthy people hard. It often follows a viral respiratory infection.

Endured 7 years of repeated medical trauma with my 9-year-old but doing my ‘own research’ has stopped it. Now a valued member of multiple healthcare quality improvement and academic research teams. I think this is what we call #PatientEngagement

Excited to share that the @SepsisCanada Patient Partner Compensation Guidance is featured in a recent journal which was one of my first projects when with the team. These types of resources are crucial for recognizing patient partners as members of the research team.

Dr. Barrett's work emphasizes the vital connection between a mother's well-being & her child's health, spanning from pregnancy to delivery. Prioritizing preventive measures for acute & chronic illnesses is key for the overall health of both mother & baby. #MaternalSepsis

Not sure I entirely agree with the statement below… Chronic symptoms are likely PCC 🤔 Nevertheless, publications like this highlight continued need to support and study long term outcomes for patients of critical illness like #sepsis especially in the pediatric population.

Good news regarding the post–COVID-19 condition (PCC) in kids: "although children infected with SARS-CoV-2 reported increased chronic symptoms, few of these children developed PCC & overall QoL did not differ from children with negative SARS-CoV-2 tests." https://t.co/la1XEyQ8Dw
