Today "Ethereum Light Clients" still rely on centralized endpoints, just with a prover in front. With @ethportalnet State Network launching this year we can remove the centralization from Ethereum light clients once and for all!.

Hoping to have the Portal State Network live with latest state with an 8 block delay by the end of February. Then I want to follow that up with a 1 slot delay, which is the limitation of Ethereum's consensus light client protocol. It will be very cool to see people build fully.

The idea would be you integrate Portal into a wallet as a replacement for a centralized RPC provider and then with 0 additional knowledge required by the user, they are now using Ethereum without utilizing centralized entities such as Infura or Alchemy.

Today, consensus light clients such as Helios still rely on centralized RPC providers. Portal will allow for wallets backends to be completely decentralized with one-click nearly instant sync times. Accessing Ethereum's Protocol as intended (decentralized) will be accessible.

Portal State Network @ethportalnet Portal is a project being built by @ethereum to enable EIP-4444's and also provide a fully decentralized trustless JSON-RPC which will support full archival requests. We already have eth_call working on the first million blocks worth of state.
