علينا أن نفكّر بجدّية في وسائل جديدة لتوزيع الموارد بالتعاون مع شركاء نشاطرهم الفكر والرؤية إزاء قضايانا العالمية. نأمل أن تمثّل هذه الحملة ذريعة أخرى للتفكير الجماعي في البدائل التمويلية التي قد تضمن استمرارية المشاريع المحلّية المرتبطة بقضايانا السياسية أو بحياة مجتمعاتنا.

لذلك، ولأوّل مرّة منذ انطلاقتنا، ندعوكم إلى التبرّع لدعم "كحل" والوقوف مع مدرسة النشر المستقلّ والمناهض للاستعمار الذي ينطلق في عمله من الجنوب العالمي. فقي هكذا نماذج إنتاجية معرفية ضمانة للحفاظ على عملنا السياسي ومعرفتنا من الضياع.

اليوم، ونحن نقترب من إتمام عقدٍ من الزمن في إنتاج ونشر المعرفة الكويرية المناهضة للاستعمار، يؤسفنا أن نعلن أننا لم نعد قادرين على دفع رواتب أعضاء فريقنا أو الاستمرار في إصدار مجلة "كحل" باللغة العربية.

وخلال هذه الفترة، التزمنا بسياسات منحازة للخطاب التحرّري على نحوٍ بيّنٍ وحازم، شَمَل ذلك تمسّكنا بالمقاطعة الثقافية والأكاديمية لإسرائيل، التي تشمل التصدّي لأيّ انزلاق نحو أيّ شكلٍ من أشكال التطبيع المعرفي مع الاحتلال الصهيوني.

منذ إطلاق مجلّتنا في عام 2015، تمسّكنا بمبدأ الوصول الحرّ إلى المعرفة للجميع. وللحفاظ على هذا المبدأ، اضطررنا إلى الخوض في حقل ألغام ما يُعرف بقطاع "المنظمات غير الربحية"، معتمدين على منَحٍ صغيرة شبه مستقلّة تتيح لنا أكبر قدر ممكن من الاستقلال.

ليس التمويل الموجّه نحو الجنوب العالمي إلّا أداة استعمارية بيد الحكومات والمؤسسات الغربية. تواجه المبادرات التي تجمع بين القضايا الكويرية والنضال التحرّري ضد الاستعمار، وخصوصًا في منطقتنا، هجمة متعمّدة تتمثّل بتقليص التمويل، كوسيلة لكمّ الأفواه وقمع كلّ من يحاول التمرّد على الصمت.

منذ أكتوبر 2023، فقدنا تدريجيًا ثلثي تمويلنا نتيجة موقفنا الصارم في إدانة الإبادة الجماعية في غزة والضفة الغربية. - ساندوا مجلّة مستقلّة كويرية مناهضة للاستعمار من الجنوب العالمي. تبرّعوا ل"كحل"!.

We therefore ask you, for the first time since our inception, to donate to Kohl and stand with autonomous, anticolonial publishing from the South, so that our political work and knowledge can be preserved.

Today, as we mark a decade of creating and spreading queer and decolonial knowledge, we are saddened to announce that we can no longer afford to pay our team members’ salaries, or continue to publish Kohl in Arabic.

Throughout this time, we have maintained a strict set of editorial policies and remained committed to our cultural and academic boycott of Israel and any epistemic attempts at normalization with the occupation.

We have always upheld the principle of free access to knowledge for all. In order to remain open access, we have had to navigate the landmine that is the non-profit industrial complex, relying on small semi-independant grants that allowed us the maximum of editorial independence.

Funding to the Global South continues to be a colonial tool in the hands of western governments and institutions. The intersection of queer and anticolonial work, particularly in our region, is being massively defunded on purpose, as a tool of collective silencing and censorship.
