The first recorded use of “goodbye” as a single word (rather than the whole phrase “God be with ye”) is also the first recorded use of the word “howdy.”

In 1962, Maryland was the first state to adopt an official sport. And then 46 years later, in 2008, they were the first state to name an official exercise. The Maryland state sport is jousting. And if you want to participate in the state exercise...go on a walk.

What phrase should we look at next? 😆

The earliest usage of the phrase “shit happens” recorded in Google books is from 1815. Surprising, right? Well it turns out to be an algorithmic misreading of a handwritten “what happens.” Ah well, shit happens.

"You’re nuts if you think people are going to retweet a thread about the word 'nuts.'" This is true...unless you're retweeting yourself. 🤷‍♀️😆

Did you know the word “nuts” used to be genuinely rude? Lewd even. ✨Obscene✨. I’ll show you, and then there’s a funny twist at the end. It made me laugh anyway. (1/…)

We're not in the business of giving advice, but...always get the bigger pizza. It's way cheaper per square inch. ...unless you don't like leftovers, in which case, this isn't going to work out.

OK, I don't want to end this thread without saying something helpful. How about this: A 16-in pizza is 78% bigger than a 12-in pizza.

Hey! 👋 @AbrahamPiper here. I just got a hold of this account and we're gonna see if it can't become interesting again instead of…you know…deceased. 😵 So...an important fact about pizza below.

“Ask” and “aks” have been interchangeable since Old English (1,500+ years). Everybody's "correct." 🤷‍♀️

Why do some people say “aks” instead of “ask”? It’s not “just their accent” and it sure as hell isn’t a mispronunciation. There’s a linguistic reason and a cultural reason. Let’s quickly look at both:
