Families of the disappeared across the world are commemorating today as the International Day of the Disappeared with hope amidst hopelessness that their struggle will lead them one day to the truth about their disappeared loved ones & that justice will not remain always elusive.

On abrogation of Article 370, India had claimed that it was being done to ensure development, creation of jobs, women empowerment & transparency. Kashmiris knew that the real reason for abrogation was land grabbing & demographic changes. It can’t be anymore brazen & violent.

In 27 years, despite police investigation proving the guilt of BSF personnel & prosecution sanction being sought by J&K government, JK Rodala & other perpetrators with the help of government of India evaded the process of justice. Denial of justice in Kashmir is institutional.

Today, Estates Deptt locked our office without any due process of cancellation & eviction, same way as I was evicted from a flat in Jammu, where my belongings including valuables were handed over to "new allottee". Vendetta for speaking out! No due process followed. How peevish!

Mirza Nisar Hussain spent 23 years of his life in jail for no crime. He was considered guilty till proven innocent. Ideally he should be compensated for being wronged by the State but he doesn’t expect that from the callous State. Society should help him and other such people.
This Kashmiri man was jailed for 24 years for a crime he did not commit. Here is the story of Mirza Nisar Hussain from Srinagar.

Impunity is infectious. For years impunity in Kashmir was invested, promoted & celebrated. Ofcourse it will now be practiced brazenly in India too.
