#onthisdayinhistory in 1899 the New York City newsboys two-week strike began. Several rallies drew more than 5,000 newsboys, complete with speeches by strike leader Kid Blink, who was blind in one eye. The boys were successful in forcing publishers to buy back unsold papers.
