What's going on in the USA shows that the citizens of that country do not have rights, they have conditional privileges that are given to them by whoever holds the reins. If a bad president can come in and take away rights and people need a good president to restore those rights

the problem with coverage like this isn't just the claim, it's the framing. when we talk about Trump occupying cities as a “crime strategy” it creates a collective misimpression about why what's happening is happening! this is not crime fighting, it's a power grab

It's the 90th anniversary of unemployment insurance and you know what? I'm not feeling much like celebrating. We're rushing headlong into a downturn and the funding states had to prepare is gone. They fired the messenger on jobs data. (more to come)

U.S. labor being quiet as hell about the detainment & violence faced by Christian’s Smalls on the Handala is right on par with their silence and ‘both siding’ of Palestine. Quite a shame for a movement that says ‘an injury to one is an injury to all’

Prison labor is usually mandatory and often unpaid. This May Day, we're thinking of the incarcerated workers who are exploited every single day to keep prisons running.

Let me break this down for you, because the media’s been tiptoeing around it, and what’s happening is beyond criminal. Kilmar Abrego Garcia was living legally in Maryland under a court-issued Withholding of Removal order. That means the U.S. government explicitly recognized

In the pandemic, we saw state UI systems break down. This time, it's going to be more than admin challenges. We are actually going to see what states racing to the bottom on access and replacement rate means. We papered over that problem in 2020 with PUA and FPUC.

We aren’t talking enough about what a recession looks like with a kneecapped administrative state. Obviously we are already seeing impact of DOGE cuts on sunny days (SSA delays). But under economic duress the volume of incoming will spike. This is a worst case scenario.

Mississippi will end its income tax, meaning that the state will raise less from the wealthy and more from low-income households. It also means less money to fund social programs in one of the poorest states in the nation. https://t.co/k4rSe669MA

Let me repeat again. For breakfast or for lunch, you will eat the oppression you allow for your neighbor. Anything you support this administration doing to “illegals,” they will soon do to you when they make YOU illegal.

NEW: The Educational Choice for Children Act would send $136.3 billion in public revenue to private school voucher programs over the next 10 years. It would also allow the rich to donate stock & avoid capital gains tax, creating a lucrative tax shelter.

Shoutout to Lawrence Brannen, an incredibly courageous Augusta, GA resident who has continuously spoken out against predatory for-profit probation practices. GA lawmakers must end this exploitation. @AndyPierrotti https://t.co/oVMNvOU5h4

Why fed layoffs are breaking UI, a thread pulled directly from this lawsuit: https://t.co/PEk94JZXVN 1) UI systems are already understaffed. UI admin funding is based on how many claims paid in the last year. Last couple years were record low unemployment

Under HB 111, an estimated $748 million in annual revenues to the state will be lost. Most families would see little savings each year, but about 67.3% of the total ($503 million) would go to Georgians earn more than $144k per year (the top 20% of households). #gapol
