A basic thing one needs to learn before logging onto a site full of political "discussion" is learning how to tell real opinions from ragebait, and real users from fake ones. It's a valuable skill. You could also not spend hours scrolling on the site. That also works.

On the bright side at least with Artemis III+ the Earth will be pretty low on the horizon from the surface and there'll be plenty of pretty photographs from surface operations

I'll try and let this be the final doomerpost for now The same people who insist that the Chinese Space Program is inherently inferior will be the same people crying out for blood and rolling heads when the Five Stars are planted into the regolith and I have zero pity for them

idiots like these are why we’re in the situation we’re in
@Orbital_Perigee Imitation is flattering. Space X proof of concept was in 2015. So this is really 10 1/2 years for the Chinese to almost achieve what Space X proved as possible..

Also by the way can I just say how upset this community makes me with their suggestions on how to improve on the current lunar program "We just need a strong motivator / a competent leader / more money" DID WE LEARN NOTHING FROM APOLLO OH MY FUCKING GOD

Sick and tired of the "well they just copied us" bullshit. Well, they're mere years away from humiliating your entire goddamn nation with their "cheap copies" that "took no actual effort." I sincerely hope calling every Chinese spacecraft a copy helps you feel better about that
this image should be nailed to the wall in every American spaceflight organizations break room. 8 years from dev beginning to this. some have more to answer for than others

To be clear, if America is still using SLS Block 2/1B, Long March 9 is going to hit the fucking griddy on us so hard you’d think it was a performance in Madison square garden

To think that, as of early '26, SLS is the only element of Artemis that's consistent, on time, and will likely serve as the only (American) way to and from the moon for at least another 2 or 3 years. I cannot tell if this play is a tasteless comedy, or a sadistic tragedy.
SLS is really America’s only politically viable option. this is a failing of America, not the rocket

The more I watch movies, the more I come to appreciate films that are based entirely in a few practical sets. They tend to rely more on the acting, cinematography, and dialogue, and can have some of the best performances in cinema.

Forgot to mention it but although I don't see the need to prove my opinions to people who know less about the industry on this site and elsewhere online it felt so goddamn vindicating to see this tweet
For those unaware, SpaceX has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the Moon, as we can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years. The mission of SpaceX remains the same: extend consciousness and life as we know it to

Can't find the clip right now but there's a point during the mission where McCandless makes a snarky jab and Mitchell gets genuinely pissed off at him to the point where Shepard interrupts their exchange to switch the topic
“Not bad for an old man!” Capcom Bruce McCandless ribbed Alan Shepard, one of America's first 7 astronauts, moments after he became the fifth—and oldest—person to walk on the lunar surface. The Apollo 14 lunar module (Antares) touched down 55 years ago today, successfully

Every full-Earth photo taken during the Apollo missions, arranged by the apparent size of Earth in the photo. Distance and focal length determine the size. #EarthDay 🌍 (contains flashing images)

Hopefully this means that we'll be able to see some more of that casual space footage like that from Fram-2
NASA astronauts will soon fly with the latest smartphones, beginning with Crew-12 and Artemis II. We are giving our crews the tools to capture special moments for their families and share inspiring images and video with the world. Just as important, we challenged long-standing

During the Bohr-Einstein debate, Einstein put forward a thought experiment that not only seemed to poke a hole in Bohr's entire stance but also left Bohr himself pale and staggering around the conference as if he'd just been told his house had burned down. It felt like that.

You ever read through the math behind a concept you're opposed to on an ideological level and are straight-up devastated when you realize it all checks out and in the end is arguably a net positive? Yeah. That's this article
Wrote some 5,000 words yesterday. So, let's talk space based datacenters, making life multiplanetary, some unlikely friends, and how any of this makes sense at all Starship IV: The Future https://t.co/oP85rcJvEU
