The best advice is always from the heart … listen and learn from those living with #dementia to truly understand how best to support them 💙
People living with dementia are like candles, everyday we lose a little bit of ourselves and we know that one day our candle will be very small, but we know our flame will be just as bright. Never give up on us.

The one thing I always tell the families that I support who have a loved one with #dementia - the word or the name may be forgotten, but the feeling and the love will always remain 💕💙
My Mom stopped calling me Patti or identifying me as her daughter, but it’s pretty clear to me that it didn’t stop her for loving me. 🥰 She called me “you” and I was clearly her #safespace. #dementia #dementiacare #caregiver #carepartner

This just shows how even if living with #dementia you retain your inner sense of #self! Feelings will always remain - It’s so important to remember this in #DementiaCare 💙
My patient has advanced #AD. Can't recognise his home - but finds his way to his room every time. Can't explain who his wife is - but chooses her company over anyone else. Doesn't remember he dislikes onion - but will push it aside on the plate. #Identity #Self #Beyondwords

Carers do an amazing job & are undervalued in society. For them it’s 24/7 job with no ‘home time’ at the end of the day. I really do feel so privileged that families let me into their lives to allow me to support them on their journey 💙🦋#carers #dementia #dementiaoxfordshire

Shocking to read this. Some of the people I support living with #dementia have live in carers & they do an amazing job. As with most care jobs, certainly for me anyway, it’s about the joy of the job because it certainly isn’t for the money, so to be treated this way is appalling
