Mark Cuban launched an online pharmacy providing cancer, cardiac, GI, rheum drugs at a steep discount. Leukemia drug Imatinib (Gleevec) which usually retails at $9,657 is sold at $47. Perhaps the greatest disruption in US healthcare this decade.👏🏼 https://t.co/Ww5UFAt6L5 @mcuban

Secondary analysis revealed that K. pneumo was more likely to be cultured from rUTI compared to E. coli, and more likely to be resistant to antibiotics. In particular, K. pneumo was more resistant to nitrofurantoin.

For our primary outcome, we found that 70% of rUTI bacteria produced biofilm in vitro, compared to 38.6% of isolated UTI,p=0.0033. After controlling for potentially confounding covariates, uropathogen biofilm production was still sig assd with rUTI (OR 5.37 [2-14], p=0.001)

The objective of our cross-sectional analysis was to assess in vitro biofilm-producing capabilities of uropathogens grown from a postmenopausal #FPMRS women w/ isolated and recurrent UTIs, & determine whether the biofilm-producing phenotype was associated with recurrent infection

Biofilms are well-described in a variety of infections including the skin, bone, resp tract, and implanted devices. In the #urology lit, they’ve been well-studied in regards to indwelling caths. Novel biofilm-targeted therapy is currently in development, esp @QuaveEthnobot lab
