Founded in 1981 with just 8 clubs at U18 level, The Kent Youth League has 193 teams looking forward to season 2022 - 2023 - 20 Divisions and 5 Cup competitions
If we see a repeat of poor behaviour we will be closing down the League for a week maybe 2 weeks without notice to clubs - grossly unfair to those who do things properly but there has to be a collective to do things positively ⚽️👍⚽️👍
It is with much sadness that I have to report that Colin Boswell our life president and president of
@KentFA
sadly passed away overnight after a short battle with cancer - a true legend of Kent football who will be sadly missed - RIP my friend 😢😢⚽️⚽️
Today has been an excellent day for the league - my thanks to all of you for the support we have received - and this evening I can report there have been no issues - now we have to reset the bar - it must continue every week now ⚽️👍⚽️👍
The League has taken the decision to POSTPONE all games tomorrow due to the severe weather warning where SAFETY of all is paramount - winds between 60 - 75mph are forecast - thank you ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Just to share with you the my first grandchild George was born yesterday and weighed in at 7lb 14oz - very proud grandparents and floating around - Mum and Bubba hopefully home today 👦👦👦👦⚽️👍⚽️👍
Good luck to all teams today as we embark on season 2018-19. Remember it is all about giving our young players a safe environment to express their ability - encourage them - and watch them thrive ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Enjoy your games today - please remember to support our match officials and show respect for your opponents - your positive support on here has been amazing - let’s have a positive of quality football - thank you ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Common sense must apply - and we are doing our best and realize that this will split opinion - please understand that the FA should be making these decisions - this is not my full time job! Thank u ⚽️👍⚽️👍
In addition we do have light evenings as well in April and May so may look at some midweek fixtures - all options being considered - please bear with us but some light at last ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Can I say a huge THANKS to the amazing response to my messages this morning. It proves that the silent majority are out there and together we can win through. Sunday will be the proof and I will good or bad update you on Monday. Thank you again ⚽️👍⚽️👍
I would like to say a quick thanks to all parents and families who support the players across the season. The vast majority are positive and supportive - the odd few get a bit excited 😂 but you are a big part of this league and welcome ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Just taking a minute or two to remember the man who set up this League and would have been proud that we have completed a full season after COVID - to the late Mr Colin Boswell who passed 2 years today - we remember you and miss you my friend ⚽️⚽️
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them.

We’re pleased to see a special & fitting tribute for our Life President, Mr Colin Boswell in
@KentOnlineSport
.
Colin founded our League, dedicating his life to make our competition the best it could be for thousands of players across Kent.
We will miss him dearly.
❤️💚
A main topic of conversation is the continued loss of Referees who are giving up due to the behavior of spectators - it is a nationwide problem - let’s support our officials and make their Sunday’s fun - they are not the enemy ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Can’t escape the irony that every Sunday since lockdown has seen glorious weather after we experienced the wet stuff nearly every week - I hope you are all safe and well - and adapting to home schooling and the like ⚽️👍⚽️👍
We have had a number of coaches and managers literally placing their heads together like rutting antelopes - and your days in this league are numbered when your cases have been dealt with by County - take up boxing please - 😡😡
A crazy week getting everything ready for tomorrow - around 90 games scheduled - more than Prem, Championship, League 1 and 2 and a National League all together - 👏 to my team - 👏👏⚽️👍⚽️👍
Please treat your opponents and the match officials with respect - and enjoy your football today - players - managers - coaches - and spectators - thank you ⚽️👍⚽️👍
After much consultation the league will permit games to continue based on the fact that the players are still attending schools - should that change then so will the Leagues position - this has the backing of the Kent FA 1/2 ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Welcome back to you all - great work between clubs and the league to get football back today - all we ask is that you all enjoy today - it’s been a long time coming
#footballisback
⚽️👍⚽️👍
1 more sleep to go before it all begins 😂 a huge amount of work and time has had been invested over the summer - and all I ask is that we remember the word YOUTH - let’s develop and praise and encourage ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Managers and Coaches - you are responsible for your parents and spectators on the day of the game - you will from Sunday be held totally responsible for their behaviour - and as coaches please support our officials - they are not the enemy ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Hopefully we will get a steer tomorrow about the route back to youth football starting again - we are ready to offer something for all once we have a date - and there will be no pressure if clubs do not want to play -
#ready
⚽️👍⚽️👍
Let’s make this Sunday a no incident Sunday please - I will not continue to be part of this league and sour the memory of Mr Boswell who would be so angry about recent events if poor behaviour continues - 6000 of you follow us - help us to get back on track
Many happy returns of the day to our amazing CEO, Ken Brooke 🎉 🎈 🎂
On behalf of the
#kyl
committee and those across our fantastic League, we’d like to wish you a very Happy Birthday 😃
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who played their part in making yesterday a super day for everyone - the sun - the spectators - match officials - photographers- league officers - managers and players - we delivered our promise 👏👏⚽️👍⚽️👍
Just to confirm that season 2019 - 2020 will commence on Sunday 8th September 2019. No games will be played on Sunday 22nd and 29th December - and Easter Sunday 12th April 2020 ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Every time a manager or coach oversteps the mark and gets reported your defense is always it was the referees fault - referees will make mistakes and so will you and your players - ⚽️👍⚽️👍
👋 Good morning Kent Youth League players, families and supporters!
We are excited to confirm our league structure for the 2019-20 season.
Check out our under 13 to under 16 divisions on the graphics below. 👇
Latest update - we are expecting to hear from
@FA
tomorrow for a decision on grassroots football - so no confirmation today I am afraid - thanks to all yesterday - good behavior maintained - ⚽️👍⚽️👍
I have had a few of you contacting me about what the new lockdown means for the League. We will wait to hear from
@FA
who I expect will find out Monday - we will share when we know - thank you 👍⚽️👍⚽️
Subject to FA approval looking ahead we still plan to kick off the League on Sunday 6th September - but ONLY following FA and County guide lines - please continue to adhere to the guide lines - a 2nd spike of the virus will put everything back ⚽️👍⚽️👍
I would like us all to say a huge THANK YOU for any health staff who follow us and what a selfless and fantastic job you are doing in unprecedented times - how you juggle every day life with the job - nothing but respect from me ⚽️👍⚽️👍
I am grateful to receive an email from CEO of
@KentFA
this evening - confirming that talks are taking place with
@FA
- about the restart dates and whether the season can be extended - so watch this space 👍👍 ⚽️👍⚽️👍
The good news is we are good to start on 13th September - 28 sleeps to go 👍👍 we cannot yet show fixtures until ALL clubs have their affiliation through - only 7 clubs missing so expect a phone call 😂😂 - thanks to all clubs for your Covid Regs ⚽️👍⚽️👍
To all of our new clubs today - welcome - you are joining one of the best youth leagues around - I am bound to say that 😂😂 - enjoy your time with us - there are some terrific players out there ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Here it is - our brand-new website 😍🤗
With a fresh-look and fully responsive to all devices, we hope you'll enjoy visiting our site and find it an even more enjoyable experience.
A big thanks to
@ArtOfDesign
for their help and support 💻📲⚽️

The League has asked all teams to observe 2 minutes silence before all matches on Sunday for Remembrance Day - some teams have adjusted kick off times to make this happen at 11am.
#lestweforget18
⚽️👍⚽️👍
As we all continue to not quite know what the future holds - may I wish all of you a healthy and Happy Christmas - to all of our players - enjoy your time with your family and friends - and we have everything crossed for a return on 9th Jan 🎄🎄🎄⚽️👍⚽️👍
We had very few reports to deal with on adult behavior in week 1 - those that were reported have been reminded by their clubs about what is expected - so thanks to the silent majority and keep up the good work ⚽️👍⚽️👍
All teams are receiving their instructions today on how to access their 3
@nikefootball
match balls provided free by the league - 587 balls on their way - thanks to
@DiscountFK
and Richard for sorting -
#premierball
⚽️👍⚽️👍
Happy Mother’s Day to all our Mum’s out there who support the teams week in and week out - providing a taxi service and many other things for the players - enjoy your day ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Very proud day today for many reasons - but most of all ensuring that our young people never forget the sacrifice our old generation made - so pleasing - and all very proud to wear poppies and observe 2 mins silence - Thank you all ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Former Glebe player Zak Lovelace will be on the bench for Millwall’s first team tonight aged just 15 years old. Zak pictured here with his dad & the
@KentYouthLeague
U13 trophy after he scored 26 goals in 15 games for Glebe in the title winning campaign during the 2018-19 season!
Sunday 11th April - we will hold 2 minutes silence before all games - we were not able to on Remembrance Sunday - so poppy kits to be worn and we remember everyone who has lost anyone to COVID ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Tomorrow’s weather forecast is forecasting very high winds across the County - safety of all is our objective - the league will make an announcement at 5:30pm today after further consultation with the weather charts Ref tomorrow
#SafetyFirst
⚽️👍⚽️👍
Part 2 - and if clubs have facilities extending the season into June - we will look at every possible option when the current lockdown is lifted - determined that this season the players will be rewarded - but it must be safe to do so ⚽️👍⚽️👍
I will be contacting all clubs today as generally this season we have had very few issues of referees reporting behavior of coaches - managers and parents - so thank you - we need your support to keep our officials ⚽️👍⚽️👍
I would like to thank you all for your comments and thoughts - I read every tweet and certainly feel that this is a great place to express a view without people getting abusive or personal ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Today our detailed return to football will be sent out to all clubs - it is our intention to start games from Sunday 4th April - but first off we need clubs to confirm any teams that are withdrawing - so we will keep you informed ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Reading some of your reasons why we are losing match officials - 2 experienced Referees threatening to quit after the abuse they received today - from parents and coaches - it’s a massive issue - ⚽️⚽️
My team work tirelessly to bring you football every week - we deal with 500 emails a week and 90 games every Sunday - we are all fed up with the number of growing incidents each week - if they leave - the league shuts - simple but avoidable ⚽️👍⚽️👍
All aboard for the 2018/19 season! ⚽️😃
We were delighted to kick-start the new campaign with help from our friends at
@StagecoachSE
who have kindly gifted every club in our League a free Nike football to celebrate their 25th birthday 🎂🚐

Just wanted to say thanks to my team for organising the Christmas advent calendar - has been very popular and hopefully we can do it again next year - congrats to all our winners ⚽️🎄⚽️🎄
Tomorrow in line with all football matches this weekend as directed by
@FA
- the League requests all teams to maintain a minutes silence in memory of The Duke of Edinburgh before kick off - thank you ⚽️👍⚽️👍 RIP
We would of course have held 2 minutes silence before all our games today - instead we as a family will be observing 2 minutes silence at 11am at our front door -
#lestweforget2020
#lockdown2uk
⚽️👍⚽️👍
On Sunday (23rd) marks the 1st anniversary of the passing of Colin Boswell our Life President and founder of the league - as we were not able to remember Colin as a collective last year - all matches will observe 1 minutes silence before all games this week
Good Morning - clearly things are moving rapidly in the world of football and coronavirus- I am waiting for a call from
@KentFA
Chief exec and will update all once we have spoken - please bear with us ⚽️👍⚽️👍
.
@whitstabletown
U14s player Miles has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer and the club is doing everything they can to support him.
Including at the First Team's match this weekend.
If you can and are able, please show your support to Miles➕his family ♥️
Here’s one for you all - do we restart on Sunday 6th December or Sunday 13th December so you can all have at least a weeks training? We will ultimately decide of course 😉- but would like to hear what you think ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Colin set up this wonderful league in 1981 - and was the Chief Exec until he passed the role over to me in 2013 - he was also a football league linesman in the old 1st Division - he told some great stories from that era ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Delighted to report that ALL grassroots football can be played next weekend - we would ask for all games to observe 1 minutes silence before kick off in respect of the passing of the Queen - black arm bands may be worn - thank you ⚽️👍⚽️👍
For any of our players returning to school this week - good luck to you all - for many it maybe the first time in 6 months - and of course to our teachers - we wish you all safe times ⚽️👍⚽️👍
We are also keen to play our Cup Finals when we get through these tough times - we are totally and correctly under the guidance of the FA - and we are talking to other leagues about how we can still end this season - we are still working hard ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Players - putting your opponents in hospital by breaking their nose or similar - spitting - are all criminal offences - not acceptable in this League - and let’s get back to showing respect for the game and this league - thank you ⚽️👍⚽️👍
When you are arranging friendly games please email the office and we will happily source you a referee - office
@kentyouthleague
.co.uk - want to get our Refs out again ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Following the announcement of Kent and London moving into tier 4 the League is postponing all 6 scheduled fixtures tomorrow - it is disappointing but I hope everyone understands ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Thanks to all of our clubs for a fantastic turn out last night for our AGM - only one club failed to appear - and great to see our golden boot winners - and sportsmanship winners - 2018-2019 season officially begins from today ⚽️👍⚽️👍
The monetary figures for Jack Grealish are mind blowing - wouldn’t it be nice if just 1% of all transfer fees was made available for grass roots (£1 million in this case) - and allocated via County FA’s - just saying
@KentFA
@FA
⚽️👍⚽️👍
All we ask for tomorrow is that we follow Covid guidelines - especially spectators please and follow home team guidelines - it’s up to us all to work together to keep football open for all - thank you ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Wow - it is not often I am lost for words - but waking up today it is time for us all to come together and keep each other strong and ready for when we can return to a level of normality - mentally we must stay strong and use here to help each other ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Listening to Boris it looks like youth football will commence on Monday 29th March - subject to the 4 criteria mentioned - we will wait to hear from
@FA
first - but be assured we will be offering football as soon as we can ⚽️👍⚽️👍
My fellow officers (my team) have worked really hard at finding ways to complete the season - these are unprecedented times - and it is impossible to please everyone we have have shown flexibility ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Take a minute just to remember Sergeant Matt - devastating news for his family, friends and colleagues - every day our Police put themselves out there to protect us - thank you - yesterday was a very sad day RIP Matt
The officer who was senselessly killed earlier today has been named as Sergeant Matt Ratana.
"Matt was a leader in rugby and well known as a player on several teams, including the Met. A lovely man, highly respected by colleagues & the public.
"He will be remembered so fondly."
Spectators - please support our match officials - a senior official is not taking a game this weekend because he felt for his own safety after a game - and social distancing rules were breached - ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Many eyes will be looking at the way we all deal with the new Covid regulations - so many volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure we can play today - please observe social distancing or we will find the ball taken away from us again ⚽️👍⚽️👍
We have tried to meet with every team Manager and Coach ahead of the season with our clear message that behavior needs to improve and our match officials need looking after please - we have set out our expectations loud and clear …..1
All teams will receive 2 further match balls making 3 in total for all 197 teams - these will be
@Nike
and will be the Leagues sponsored football that teams will use - ⚽️👍⚽️👍
We have a meeting this evening to make final decisions on our provisional constitution for next season - all teams will be advised by Saturday of our decisions - been a mammoth task working through applications ⚽️👍⚽️👍
The League has asked all Referees to report and poor behavior from both spectators and managers and the league will take action - do not let the small minority spoil it - 99% of you support this I know - let’s lead the way this season ⚽️👍⚽️👍
May I on behalf of the League wish you all a very Healthy and Happy New Year - we look forward to resuming football on Sunday with everything up for grabs - it would be nice if the rain would stop every Sunday 😂😂 enjoy tonite and stay safe ⚽️👍⚽️👍
Big shout to
@sterling7
who is paying the funeral costs for
@CPFC
youngster Damary Dawkins after getting involved in his search for a suitable stem cell donor before his sad passing - lovely gesture by a decent guy ⚽️👍⚽️👍
