RIP to a Wales RL legend 🏴
Switching codes in 1967 to join Salford, Watkins’ time in rugby league was as glittering as anything in his union career. He made over 400 appearances for the Red Devils, as well as earning 16 caps for Wales and playing in six tests for Great Britain.

We are extremely saddened to hear that David “Dai” Watkins, one of the greatest players the club has ever produced, has passed away at the age of 81.

I went to watch this game let me tell you now one of the most frustrating games I’ve ever watched I felt sorry for the players,officials and people there watching this CANNOT come into our game…….59 penalty’s let that sink in 🤯🤦🏻♂️
It’s been a frustrating first game for the new RFL Modification rules where anything above the armpit at initial contact is penalised. There have been 59 penalties in total reducing the game to a stop start mess. Hopefully this is ground zero for the sport and things improve.
