You can tell a lot about a person based on whom they choose to think with. And if you're a professional writer who deals with ideas, that's half the job.

Adrienne brought out my best work, and I'm sure many other writers can say the same. She is one of the few editors who understand why seemingly-niche publishing stories are relevant to a much wider audience. Whoever hires her will be lucky.

After nearly nine years at Esquire, I’ve been laid off from my role as Books and Fiction Editor. I’m looking for a new full-time role where I can use my storytelling skills, in the book world or beyond it. If you know of anything, I’m at adriennewestenfeld@gmail.com. (🧵1/10)

Ever since Conversations With Friends became a word-of-mouth hit, publishers have tried to harness “the Sally Rooney audience” for other authors. I wrote about why that's a complicated idea — and why Rooney exists in a category of her own. https://t.co/4zsKNEFAZ2

In August 2019, I founded @esquire Book Club as a monthly author interview series. Five years later, I'm proud to expand the vision into a monthly author profile series. First up: @GillianA tells Lynn Steger Strong about the power of women's desire. https://t.co/tpwCAr0iMs
