According to a new research project published in Jan 2025, the VA estimates that less than 0.5% of WW2 vets remain alive among us. In 2023, there were around 119,000 surving (US) WW2 vets

In another illustration of this shrinking/aging population: Yesterday, for the 1st time, no survivors were in attendance at the annual ceremony in Honolulu, remembering the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor—where 2,403 Americans lost their lives and over 1,000 were wounded.
