Hi everyone, I haven't been around here for a while as I'm a bit concerned about how this platform is developing. Seems some of you are still around 😊 How are you dealing with this? Have you found a good alternative yet? 🤔.

Great news! My lovely collaborator Heena Kamble and I received a European Varela Grant 🥳. Thanks to @MindandLifeEU for sponsoring the first-ever global survey of meditators where we will explore who practices what and why ⬇️ #meditation.

➡️ Extraverted participants benefitted more from humming and walking meditation. ➡️ Effects on well-being and mind-wandering were smaller and less consistent. Check out the paper for detailed plots on how these variables develop over time and in different participants 📈📉📊.

➡️ Walking meditation was particularly effective for body awareness and emotion regulation. ➡️ Observing- thoughts and concentration meditation led to more positive reponse patterns and better responses in participants high in neuroticism.

The scientific publishing system is fundamentally flawed. Governments pay the scientists who do the research, write, review and edit the papers and the libraries who pay the subscriptions, while private businesses make a huge profit of it. Great article:.

I’m currently reading this wonderful book, which is truly eye-opening and amazingly well written. Each chapter is a revelation on our innate human #kindness. It seems we’re hardwired for friendliness and sociability and warfare only emerged after we settled down… #humankind

Another episode of “Thank you for traveling with @DB_Bahn”: First they cancel all ICE from Berlin to Greifswald without replacement, then they do not bother to send a longer RE to accommodate all passengers. So after waiting 1,5h for this train, I have to spend 3h standing 😱🤯🙈
