I am happy to see the federal government taking the input and concerns from the policing community,including Associations. By advancing legislation on #bailreform,we are optimistic that this legislation will strengthen Canadaās bail framework and improve community safety #cdnpoli.

The point is policing is a job that invites everyone who wants to make a difference. Removing barriers will draw in these candidates. You already possess everything you need. You can be taught everything else through a lifetime of on-the-job training.

Or the single mother who couldn't afford post secondary and sees what is happening in her community and joins a service to make a difference. This woman would bring value to any police service and the community it serves.

And truthfully, lived experience &diverse experiences are equally as important to a lifetime in a classroom. Academia is important. But we cannot excluded the 35 y/o skilled tradesperson who grew up in a single-parent home, in a marginalized community. They bring value.
Policing is a 30 year, life long learning career which allows you to grow and continually improve yourself. Many police officers acquire post secondary degrees while on the job.

For anyone who is passionate about supporting safe mental health conversations where we can identify &support someone experiencing suicidal ideation whether passive or active please look into ASIST. It promotes safety and connecting someone with support. It saves lives.
Suicidal people deserve a safe place to talk about their suicidal feelings. Without thinking they could be put in a mental hospital. That fear is so real and so many canāt speak up due to the fear of what might happen. #SuicidePrevention #SuicideAwareness.
