While a long thread, this really only addresses my research career. I’ve been lucky to have many friends, an endlessly supportive spouse, and other experiences that have shaped me. I’m so thankful for all of the support I’ve had, and I plan to pay it forward at every opportunity.

So many others helped me on this journey: writing letters, advocating for me, sharing scientific insights, advising me, and more. Thank you to just a few of those people: @UVADeanJWest, @peiferlabunc, @TanentzapfLab, @BergstralhLab, @JocMcDonald, @negberry. The list could go on.

I next joined the @RFGlab for my postdoc @bme_uoft. I was immersed in excellent research, colleagues, and mentorship. Rodrigo provided a model for how I want to run my lab. Special thanks to my amazing mentees Clara Schimmer, @Michelle_Lyy, Kate MacQuarrie, and @SofiMendezLopez.

For grad school, I joined the brand new lab of Brent Hoffman at @DukeUBME. I learned so much and Brent always supported me in expanding my horizons. Special thanks to @ShaneNeibart who worked incredibly hard as my mentee, and I am so proud of his success in the medical field.

I attended @BostonU_BME for undergrad. I received a research fellowship that resulted in me joining @smithlabBU where I stayed throughout my degree. Beyond the science, it was a healthy lab environment with great mentorship. I’m grateful to Michael for continuing to support me.

During my school years in upstate New York, many teachers cultivated my academic proclivities. One opportunity that stands out is support in attending the Horizons program @ClarksonUniv. This grew my confidence and expanded my view of what scientists and engineers could do.

My parents raised me with a healthy view of success. They navigated many challenges as teen parents to start both their careers and family. They encouraged me to explore all of my interests, supported me in my chosen passions, and reinforced that their love was unconditional.
