Golden hour hits different above 2600 meters. ✨🌅 NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory basks in that sunset ✨glow✨ at its site on Cerro Pachón. And with over 300 clear nights on average per year here, that's a lot of sunset basking we get to do!

In control over 5,000 miles away Chile and California aren't exactly close - and @VRubinObs is atop Cerro Pachon at almost 9,000 ft. - but there’s a Rubin control room right here at SLAC! Learn how we use it to help #CaptureTheCosmos: https://t.co/DAUadaeSNu

The Trifid Nebula is giving major multitasker energy: part emission nebula, part reflection nebula, and part dark nebula. Honestly, goals. This image from NSF–DOE @VRubinObs showcases Trifid’s bright, colorful cloud of gas and dust. 📷: RubinObs/NOIRLab/SLAC/NSF/DOE/AURA

☄️ Say hello to Comet 3I/ATLAS, just the third interstellar object ever seen in our Solar System! @NSF@doescience Rubin Observatory didn’t discover the comet, but even during testing, it caught a glimpse. Imagine what we'll find once science operations begin later this year!

We saw it too. ☄️ Our LSST Camera, still in its commissioning phase, caught the interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS back in June - several days before its discovery was announced! This early testing data showcases the unprecedented observing power of the NSF-DOE @VRubinObs.
