How about investing money in school libraries with trained staff to allow students time and space for book choice and reading for pleasure? I’m blessed to work in a school that supports this, but many aren’t and students are missing out.
Too many pupils are disengaged after moving from primary to secondary school, leaving them without the skills they need for work and life. Our new Year 8 reading test will help teachers to spot struggling readers early and provide pupils with the support they need to achieve and
