How is this actually my job?! ❤️ Providing staff training at a school tomorrow on how trauma affects speech, language and communication development and how we best can support our students. Feeling extremely grateful and happy about the increasing awareness around this! @RCSLT

Thankful to have presented at Beneath the Behaviours Conference 2025! 🧩 Explored the powerful link between SEMH & SLCN, sharing practical tools like visuals, social stories & LEGO-based therapy. Let’s drive change together! 💡 @ULspeechtherapy @lb_southwark

I have never seen a pupil return to school after multiple exclusions & change their behaviour. It has never shocked them onto a different path. It accelerated the one they were already on. We need to address the pain based behaviour that's is driving it and find another way🧠🌱

This time of year can be one of the toughest for the children and young people that we support. Our organisation depends on donations from generous organisations + individuals and we are grateful for even small amounts. Find out how to support us here: https://t.co/4ZUgEPbkZ4

An uplifting story to illustrate how some children can #thrive in smaller, therapeutic, #traumainformed environment. Often #AP #SEND #SEMH settings are frowned upon or seen as a failure for the child & family. We need to change that narrative #meettheneed

What we're really saying is children respond best when adults are authentically themselves. No need to put a high-pitched voice on or a stern and demanding voice on. https://t.co/P8fheTgUSi

Experts say that learning how best to use your voice as a teacher is like learning to play an instrument - but finding the right pitch isn’t as easy as you might think

"Should I meet my child's needs or my child's society's needs". Doesn't only apply to parents, but to anyone who's working with children. Let's teach them to be authentically themselves, starting with being attuned to their emotions 🌱 @DrGaborMate

Creating a safe space for me and a TA at an #SEMH school, where we could reflect on what a student was communicating through their behaviour might just have been my favourite thing to happen this term ❤️🌱 #SLCN #SEMH #BehaviourisCommunication

It's been one month since we launched our report, showing a shocking rise in speech and language challenges! 1.9 million children are struggling with talking and understanding words. Not read it yet?👇 https://t.co/nvqKUGWzE7

Tonight, hundreds of young people 16+ in our care system will sleep in fear, squalor, and go without food. Some ( from first-hand experience) will walk the streets all night because it's better than living in a crack house. Some will be forced to do things against their will.

"When allowed to decide for themselves how to dress, they learn how to make choices, exercise judgment and discover their likes and dislikes. They learn what’s appropriate in different settings and to balance self-expression and practicality." 🧠🌱 https://t.co/pHLjuvNP8O
