Monday morning traffic nightmare (daymare?) north of the 5/405 split. @LAFD worked quickly to stop a blaze that spread from a trailer crash to nearby vegetation. Were you stuck in the epic jam? Grateful we were only covering freeway backups and not another raging brush fire.

I was doing pursuit drills with our newest trainee MINUTES before this chase started. She got to witness every scenario we practiced troubleshooting… happening live. No IFB, signal blackouts, out-of-range radios. Big thanks to our @NBCLA ops wizards for keeping up with it all.

Where there's fire, there's often toxic smoke. We hovered above the #CanyonFire and watched brown haze blanketing the area. Diminished air quality will hurt people far beyond the burn zone. Pulmonologists say inhaling wildfire smoke is comparable to smoking numerous cigarettes.

Tight + wide shots from the helicopter help illustrate the magnitude of this explosion. Firefighters felt it down the road. Window glass in a patrol vehicle shattered to crumbs. This marks @LASDHQ’s largest loss of life since 1857. My heart goes out to the victims’ loved ones.

The FBI is calling today’s explosion at a Palm Springs fertility clinic an intentional act of terrorism. Authorities say it's one of the “largest bombing investigations” in Southern California history. They have a person of interest and are not actively searching for a suspect.

This deadly pursuit shook viewers across the nation. Lots of questions about where to watch the full replay. Here's the crash ending posted by our @wcnc friends in Charlotte. The driver was wanted for grand theft at a Camarillo Target store. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone counting LA pursuits? LAPD reports 79 chases in the first 5 weeks of 2025. How about pursuits with suspects losing wigs?. This morning’s wild pursuit ended in Marina del Rey after a tense standoff with LAPD. Driver and passenger (sans purple wig) taken into custody.
