I recently partnered with two authors to continue my financial, technical, and technological critique of deep seafloor mining (DSM). I continue to believe that the non-environmental aspects will make it fail. Technology has moved on from making it viable.

Opportunities to necropsy white sharks are rare so the unfortunate loss of this mature male will ultimately benefit science. Samples will be shared with other scientists including vertebrae for aging & tissue samples for pathology to stomach contents for diet studies and more…

Yesterday a 13’4” male white shark washed up on Nauset Beach. Today @GregSkomal from @MassDMF performed a necropsy. There were no obvious signs pointing to cause of death but tissue samples were secured for @shellspc to analyze. Here’s a Timelapse video of the necropsy:
