Check out our latest paper by first author @JoyShaffer17. We show how RanGTP partially releases H2A-H2B from Importin-9... just enough that H2A-H2B can release to an assembling nucleosome. Read for free for the next 50 days:

Structural basis of chromatin regulation by histone variant H2A.Z
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
The importance of histone variant H2A.Z in transcription regulation has been well established, yet its mechanism-of-action remains enigmatic. Conflicting evidence exists in support of both an...

Yay! Our first PhD Graduate. He is a great scientist, a great mentor, and an all round great human being. He has been with the lab since day one. He helped set up SO many things and always with a smile. Stay tuned for his major paper on histone chaperones and acetyltransferases.

There has been justifiable anger over mischaracterization of Rosalind Franklin's data as "confirming" the Watson-Crick DNA model. The model was actually based in part on her famous photograph 51, which they used without her knowledge and without attribution. I'll explain 1/n
Today is the 100th birthday of crystallographer Rosalind Franklin, whose X-ray diffraction images of DNA were critical in confirming the structure of DNA. This video highlights the double helix structure and base pairing in PDB entry 1bna: https://t.co/HZH6VPI90F
