If you watch that Kim Mulkey rant again, she actually does a terrific job of laying out how this WaPo reporter did everything properly and followed the rules of engagement the right way.
Good luck with the lawsuit, though, Kim.
I was fortunate enough to document a surreal time in Utah football’s history, from the COVID season, to two Rose Bowl runs, to this season’s weirdness.
I would like to believe the enormity of it all was never lost on me.
Thanks for having me, you guys.

Donovan Mitchell is wearing No. 22 — an apparent homage to Utah football player Aaron Lowe — at the Utah Jazz's practice this afternoon.
Lowe was shot and killed Sunday in Salt Lake City:
Ernie DiGregorio — with arguably the most difficult, under duress, on the money, in stride, behind the back dime in the history of the game. Holy sh*t.🏀🤷♂️💪👁🔥
BREAKING: Charlie Brewer has left the University of Utan football program.
Utes statement to
@sltrib
: "Charlie has decided to move on and we wish him the best."
More coming.
NEW: On Nov. 29, 2019, Ty Jordan arrived for an official visit at Utah, with Cam Rising hosting that night.
Before the night was over, Rising and Jordan promised each other they’d get to a Rose Bowl.
Rose stem in his mouth, Rising kept that promise
To be clear: Kyle Whittingham called timeout to make Oregon punt, Oregon punted to Covey, and Covey just ripped Oregon's throat out.
Halftime: Utah 28, Oregon 0.
So Max Holloway can't fight tomorrow night in a lightweight bout. Conor McGregor is in New York.............................someone make a call, get that thing from yesterday worked out, and let's go.
That's easy math,
@SteveFeitl
Donovan Mitchell and Eric Paschall, a couple of Westchester kids who grew up less than five miles from each other and played for the Riverside Hawks AAU program, now both play for the Utah Jazz.
Programming note.
My time at The Salt Lake Tribune has come to an end.
I’m not sure what’s next, but for now, I appreciate everyone who read and engaged, especially during the 2021 and 2022 football seasons.
Tonight was a career moment for the entire Utah coaching staff.
One thing that will stick with me is OL coach Jim Harding, in tears, removing himself from the chaos on the field to take it all in.
You know what's crazy?
Utah won at Washington State without Rising and with Kincaid unavailable for the fourth quarter.
That game should be talked about more, as should Bryson Barnes, as having saved the season.
One thought then we write.
If Bryson Barnes wasn't already a cult legend among Utah fans, tonight sealed it. Doesn't matter what else happens.
OK, we write.
Tavion Thomas did Monday media late this afternoon for the first time in a few weeks.
Thomas revealed he has been working with Dr. Jonathan Ravarino, the athletic department's Director of Psychology and Wellness.
They weren't going to give up on him. Good.
A fired-up Mark Harlan daps up and hugs Bryson Barnes as “LET’S GO UTAH” rings out.
Quite a scene here postgame. The enormity of that season-saving win is tough to quantify at the moment.
Just an FYI, I’ll be doing some freelancing for KSL DOT COM, mostly Utah, so you people are stuck with me at least a little while longer…………
Does anyone have a Utes mailbag question? Media day in the books, camp looms, hoops, the random stuff, whatever.
Let’s have some fun
On a Zoom call, CFP selection chair Gary Barta noted that Utah and Pitt both won conference championships on Saturday, and that's why they're ahead of No,. 13 BYU.
Barta also defended putting Utah ahead of BYU, noting that the Utes are 9-1 since Rising took over at QB.
Per a Utah athletic department spokesperson, Bryson Barnes was able to travel home with Utah last night after going to the hospital after taking what appeared to be a hit to the chest.
One source said “good chance,” another used “likely” when I asked if GameDay ends up in Salt Lake City for Oregon-Utah. Still waiting on notification
Utes have hosted 4x, but not since 2016.
Only other games next week that make any sense are Oklahoma-Kansas and Duke-Louisville
Utah has canceled all of this week's football media availability, including Kyle Whittingham's normal Monday morning press conference. Utes are on a bye.
Understandable.
Said this a very long time ago, but worth repeating now.
If Utah winds up in the Big 12, Utah-BYU is renewed and is immediately the conference’s No. 1 rivalry.
These are good, if not great things and you can’t convince me otherwise.
Utah's defense is now giving up an average of 9.5 points through four games.
Three of the four wins - Florida, Baylor, and UCLA - are against Power Five programs.
Kyle Whittingham: "Not a lot of positives in that game for us. That is as throughly and as soundly as we've been beaten in a long time, especially at home."
Quick programming note.
Saturday will mark the end of my time covering the University of Utah.
Starting Monday: SEC coverage for GulfLive DOT com and Advance Local.
The Swamp is probably 30-40% full, and it still got pretty loud as cheering started when some Gators came out of the tunnel just a moment ago.
This is going to be a real-deal road atmosphere you're not getting in the Pac-12.
Dalton Kincaid’s 16-234-1 against USC on Oct. 15 cemented his legacy at Utah. Made the FCS-to-P5 transition and became one of the nation’s best-catching TEs.
Played hurt down the stretch to help get Utah back to the Rose Bowl.
As one might expect, Britain Covey says he’s a big Disney guy, said he was antsy to get on some rides.
Covey also said some of his teammates were acting “too cool” for Disneyland.
I asked who.
“T.J. Pledger.”
Andy Ludwig will remain at Utah, sources confirm.
@PeteThamel
first.
$2.8 million buyout was considered a potential deterrent from the jump. That proved the case.
More coming.
Florida transfer Mo Diabate on Utah's opener being at The Swamp.
"It's going to be a great environment, a great opportunity, and, you know, it's like going to my ex-wife's house."
We laughed.
The RAC is going to be a circus on Wednesday.
1. Fans hate Penn State to begin with.
2. Team just kicked Iowa's ass.
3. Last home game
4. Team is playing well.
5. Fans hate Penn State to begin with.
Barnes became a cult legend after he almost stole the first Rose Bowl vs. Ohio State.
Utah doesn’t go to a second Rose Bowl, let alone a second Pac-12 title game, without Barnes beating Wazzu in Pullman on a Thursday night.
Took a minute to be able to say this officially, but I am happy to finally put out there that I am now the University of Texas beat writer for
@TXLoneStarLive
/ GulfLive DOT com / Advance Local.
Yes, a move to Austin is imminent.
Been quite a few months for me.
Gobert is trending, I don’t need to look up why. Here’s the deal.
Going by any metric made available, he should be DPOY, and it should probably be unanimous.
A thought after decompressing.
Knee injury aside, the calls from some fans for Rising to sit after last night are completely asinine. It took 24 games and 23 starts for him to truly have a bad one. Take a breath.
