As a consultant clinical psychologist, I can tell you why incapacity benefit claims are soaring. Lengthy waiting times worsen illnesses. Social care is fragmented. Countless systemic issues, including the DWP's dehumanizing policies, contribute. It's not individual's 'coasting'.

I am dismayed that @BPSOfficial a professional body which holds human welfare as a core value, seems unable as an organisation to make a statement joining the growing calls of many others for an immediate ceasefire on humanitarian grounds in Gaza (1/5)

Cruel and ill-informed take. Perhaps take a few minutes to consider the multifaceted and traumatising factors which would lead anyone to ‘choose’ to sleep rough, rather than making sweeping, erroneous statements to incite further stigma towards some of our most vulnerable people.

The British people are compassionate. We will always support those who are genuinely homeless. But we cannot allow our streets to be taken over by rows of tents occupied by people, many of them from abroad, living on the streets as a lifestyle choice. 1/4

No attempt to consult with homeless charities and housing organisations. Sloppy, lazy, narrow, dangerous thinking, from someone increasingly well-versed in it.
