The inability to think reflectively is best seen in remarks (such as by this sad human being) that Russia acts within a space of "rights" and "necessity" (not always clear in translation). But the only necessity is the inevitability of Russia's demise.

The reason unilateral ceasefire seems not to be an option has more to do with internal politics than military outlook. It would be interesting to know whether Russia's generals may not have proposed the same.
