No credible economist who surveyed the wreckage to Bangladesh’s economy during Hasina’s kleptocratic rule would agree with this assessment. If the July Revolution had not removed her from power there was a good chance than the looming economic collapse would have done so.

This provides further incentive for Bangladesh to take advantage of the time remaining before these tariffs are scheduled to go into effect to finalize a new trade agreement with the U.S. Negotiators are reportedly very close to an agreement. It is now time to finalize a deal.
