This could be a very big deal. Call it three-tier justice--not only is there a partisan selection of defendants with some facing charges which others escape but also some of those charged face heavier sentences than others. Not very nice people, these human rights lawyers.

This smooth unrolling of official excuses for omitting the victims' voices from an analysis of the grooming gangs scandal rises almost to the level of satire. It evokes the last scene of "Murder in the Cathedral" where the knights justify murdering Beckett in establishment tones.
Greater Manchester deputy mayor Kate Green told a grooming gang victim last July that it was important that their voices were heard in the assurance review. But the inspectors didn't interview them and that victim didn't hear back from Green. I asked her if she regretted that.

This is a horrifying story. My guess is that the taking of this man's life was not legal but a misinterpretation of the law by the family and medical staff. That said, it will be difficult to get the authorities to do anyhing about it. It's still worth trying. We might be next.
A family member of mine is a nurse in Canada. They performed several assisted dying procedures at the care home they worked at, before refusing to continue. In one case, the family of a mentally disabled man decided they wanted him to be euthanised. He didn’t want to die. But.
