Nashville has had a congressional seat since George Washington was president. There’s no sound reason to lose that, as Davidson County is the nineteenth-largest city in the U.S. and our region’s primary economic engine.

The proposed map would dramatically alter the political landscape of Middle Tennessee. The new formula would dilute Davidson County's vote and likely deliver Republicans another congressional seat.

I’m disappointed the US House voted Tuesday to make it easier for dangerous people to access weapons like the one used in the Covenant tragedy. I hope the Senate will reject this dangerous move. Send your senators a message telling them to vote NO here:

My office is working with Metro Codes, Metro Legal, and Public Health to investigate this weekend’s party on Fern Avenue and those responsible for organizing it. The party was in clear violation of Metro’s Modified Phase Two public health order. We are taking action. (1/3)

Our country has lost another iconic pioneer in the civil rights movement. Rep. John Lewis’s lifetime of work for justice launched in Nashville as a student at American Baptist College and Fisk University, when he organized sit-in demonstrations at segregated lunch counters.

June 1st marks the start of LGBT Pride Month. As we begin to celebrate, we acknowledge the LGBTQ movement which started more than 50 years ago. People pushed for a more equal world and spoke out against hate, homophobia, racism, and violence.
