Mayor announces intent to ask province for a review of policing in BC.
He rightly points out that the BC Police Act and appointed board ties City's hands.
There's a bigger conversation that needs to happen with province too.
Not just the Police Act -but who and why we police 👇🏽
How it started …tonight will be my how it ends for me last official
@ParkBoard
meeting. I got involved to preserve the iconic
@BloedelConserv
my life was enriched by many fantastic residents & groups I met.
I’m wishing the new PB
@Vote4ABC
majority success as much is possible!
1) restore the
@VancouverPD
budget 2)support hardworking
@ChiefPalmer
& not throw his team under the bus 3) work with other levels of Govt to increase treatment for those with metal health issues & addictions 4) work hard keep public spaces clean & safe for all

has passed a motion to amend the Parks Control Bylaw to allow for temporary overnight sheltering in parks. The amended bylaw includes provisions to more effectively manage temporary structures and tents for those seeking shelter in parks.
This is clearly a waste of money
@CityofVancouver
should be encouraging residents and visitors to get back downtown, so much help is needed to stimulate economic recovery
@MyVancouver
@NPAVancouver
Vancouver City Hall is spending more than $1 million in taxpayers’ money on a consultant who will recommend the preferred way to screw you out of your money for the sin of driving a car.
Get ready for the Vancouver Money Wall from Clark to Burrard.

Bumper to bumper traffic on W Georgia in the lane headed to Stanley Park — backed up past Cardero. How are those lane closures in the park working out?
Glad to see Stanley Park seawall reopening to cyclists and the road to be shared as previous
@TriciaBarker49
and I
@NPAVancouver
appreciated all those who contacted us with your concerns. Hoping for Beach ave access to be restored soon.
#VanParkBoard
is reopening
#StanleyPark
seawall to cyclists and full vehicle and parking access on Saturday, Sept 26. The temporary traffic management plan was installed June 22 to provide greater access for recreational use during the COVID-19 pandemic
Our mayor
@kennedystewart
has failed in his basic duty to keep streets clean & safe even having COV staff apologizing for
@CityofVancouver
street cleaning. On Oct 15 Vote
@NPAVancouver

Just getting ready for a meeting with residents & merchants in Gastown. Seems brickwork and roadway is a disaster.
It looks like the crosswalk lines are virtually non existent.
@NPAVancouver
will support

This is an unforgivable waste of taxpayer money and as your Mayor I promise that my focus will be on core services and fiscal responsibility, with zero room for virtue signalling.

In a 6-5 vote, Vancouver City Council has approved spending up to $1 per resident (~$700,000) in 2023 on financing a class action lawsuit against "Big Oil."
The idea is that oil companies will pay for City costs incurred by climate change.

Police say no one hurt in today's fire at

Mayor Ken Sim has sent out a mass email complaining about Park Board “neglect; crumbling infrastructure, facilities closed for years, unmaintained public spaces”. But the city’s Real Estate and Facilities Management department is responsible for that maintenance.
Vancouver residents wonder why your taxes are so out of control…City of Vancouver spent $219 million on provincial and federal responsibilities in 2021 |

Holiday lights not happening this year, especially with the loss of Stanley Park train operation hopefully
@Vote4ABC
majority will direct staff to get these events up & going next year
Vancouver Park Board will end its moratorium on new "commercial" events & festivals held at parks.
Events like SKOOKUM music fest & Grand Fondo fall into this category.
The moratorium was intended to last for ~1 year, but it has been 3.5 years.
#vanpoli
Everyone should listen to
@JasJohalBC
condemnation of
@ParkBoard
on
@cknw
yesterday for its mismanagement of this matter. My assumption is the board & staff considered the train an outdated fossil-fuel relic that should be scrapped. But they're wrong.
Another tax on residents💰

at least get my name right it’s not Jonathan it’s John another example of how you are so disconnected with our city
NPA leaders have shown they would rather turn their backs on our most vulnerable residents than pursue solutions to get people off the streets.
I am proud the majority of council voted to move Vancouver forward for all of us.

I want to clarify a section of Sim's budget task force report about potentially privatizing City of Vancouver capital fund assets.
The list shows "streets/bridges, parks, community facilities, firehalls, police stations, civic facilities/equipment, and etc." as its holdings.
It’s the day after the Vancouver Park Board voted to reopen Park Drive to one lane of cars, not two. Could all these new cones, electric signs and barrels have been ordered this morning and delivered by 3:30?
Life is always interesting just received this is photo from my last
@ParkBoard

much success as his

all Mayors and Councils since then have seen it’s value. Suddenly a rookie Mayor decided he knows better than all those that preceded him…Very Interesting !
Vancouver ponds are drying up. I 100% agree these vital wildlife supporting ponds should be filled … no one questions our increased use of water for Oakridge, Cambie Corridor,Senakw or Jericho lands suddenly we can’t support water features in parks?
Clearly this
