B4 going on sabbatical from my PhD I published 1 academic paper in an anthology.
A friend has been using this paper in his Master’s program in Canada. He said: “you know it’s widely cited?”
Went back to check and 53 scholars have used it in their publications.

My great aunt was the first "black" student admitted to Queens College. My grand mother worked on Bay St in John Bull as one of the few "black" (but fair-skinned) allowed to work on that street.
