Yes. This is how politics works in every city in every state of the country. This is rule by capitalists, not democracy. If that bothers you like it should, join DSA and fight for a socialist future.
I keep rereading this. Campaign finance laws have just let the would-be vassals to pay tribute to the lord. These aren’t donations to fund a campaign, they are protection money and pre-emptive bribes.
