An 80+ year old woman accidentally kicked a copperhead who got into her bed. The snake bit her, she GRABBED it & contained it, called us, then called 9-11. Turns out it was a dry bite, & the snake was MASSIVE. She wanted the snake released unharmed - now SHE is fucking cool
One of my earliest memories is my cousin killing a copperhead with a hoe, and he also had a Pontiac Firebird, and in 1984, he was basically the coolest person alive. And I just needed to share that with the world.

I’ll conclude this thread with a few more facts:
Opossums can eat thousands of ticks in a single summer (they groom them off themselves & eat them!)
They are immune to rattlesnake venom
They have a lower body temp which makes them a lower risk of contracting rabies!

Cat flaps are the data you need. Any cat owner who offers their felines a choice of indoor or outdoor will tell you their cat will more often than not choose outdoors.
Some choose to stay in, but most would be unhappy. They are part of the ecosystem.

We sprayed the entire course in April and August with high rate Tetrino, Aloft, and Acelepryn. We haven’t found any grubs in any of the damage, just earth worms. We’ve discussed Sevin or some other carbaryl spray for next season as well.

For example, my place of work has an Ambassador Arctic Fox. We’re in Virginia - these aren’t native animals - so why do we have her?

We often get baby opossums because if mom is hit by a car and dies, the babies can survive for a short time in her pouch. If it’s safe to do so, and you’re comfortable, please keep an eye out in spring and summer for dead opossums on the road - there could be live babies!
