Are these the best reflection in a lake photos of my iPhone/hiking photography career? They just might be. I don’t get to practice much in SoCal, despite the name of the local NBA franchise.

Haha @JerryBeach73 - the CBI trophy is back where it belongs out here on the best coast. Go Waves! Too bad there’s still covid so we can’t have a parade through Malibu.

Spent the holiday week diving into the rabbit hole of old YouTube videos from the grunge era. Maybe just feeling nostalgic but I miss the great music from these old Unplugged concerts. This was just so damn good.

These might have been the only 4 cassettes I bought from that year. The first I ever bought was wham make it big, but was relieved to see that came out a year earlier so I didn’t have to include it here.
"It was the year of Pump by Aerosmith, after all..." is a gutless subtweet of me, Zimmsy, and I'd like to get down to the heart of the matter by fighting you at noon behind the quad.

I was nervous about taking part in this one, since my name is best associated with a Pearl Jam video that doesn’t turn out so well for the protagonist. But I can live with this.

Hello from Timber Mountain - second time up there this summer (really just a workout than anything). Today’s most appropriate shuffle song on the descent was “Long and Winding Road” which I dedicated to my Jeep so the “brings me to your door” part makes sense.

Mt. Baldy (10,060 feet). First time here since 2014. Shuffle picked a bit of a depressing descending song with Boulevard of Broken Dreams, but there were a fair amount of other hikers so I didn’t walk a totally lonely road (trail).

Mt. Baden Powell (9407 feet) - a new peak bagged. Was a nice moderate trail with good rewards view-wise, and it’s not currently on fire, so it was a good choice. Not a good choice (by my music shuffle on the way down), given my current conditioning: Lie In Our Graves by DMB.

Conquered Cucamonga Peak (~8900 feet) today. Struggled, but made it for my 6th Cucamonga summit. Hit shuffle when I started my descent, and first song was ... Baby Let Me Follow You Down (an @hecott approved descending song). Song 2: Take Me Home by Jamestown Revival. Weird.

First bagged peak from the summer of covid. An easy one most years, but this year isn’t most years. This year, I’ve only had success summiting my couch. Been up on Timber Mountain 3-4 times before, so had to prove this wasn’t a file photo by looking all masky in the selfie.

Hoosiers was a story about a 1952 Indiana High School basketball championship, and was released in movie theaters in 1986. A similarly nostalgic movie about a team that won a championship in 1986 would be out right now.

Guess it’s time to give the SoCal mountains back to the skiers for a little while.

Yosemite views from today: Nevada Falls from a distance, Nevada Falls from close up (594 foot drop), Vernal Falls, Olmsted Point.

Shots from our lunch today at the top of the Big Kook (Cucamonga Peak - 8859 feet). The lunch was so-so: a bland turkey sandwich with a side of Stinger energy chews, and parking was awful - it felt like miles until we finally got to our seat. But we’d still recommend.

Bertha Peak: 8,201 feet (Big Bear Lake below). It was a junior varsity climb, but hey, I still made it to the top. The only time I’ve completed an arduous journey to the top of anything else recently was when I caught up on my Twitter feed by scrolling up.

I attended college in the 90s, and I don’t recall the tennis players competing naked. There was no social media at the time, but I still feel like that’s the sort of thing that the students would have been aware of.

I had to turn on the heat in the Jeep on the drive back from a golf tournament today. I feel like a small part of my dream died.
