Okay, so there's some content Google doesn't want to show.

Google didn't hit sites because they're niche websites.
They hit websites because they have certain patterns.
There are still many successful content sites out there.

For the longest time, Google rewarded websites for getting very specific, answering granular questions and arguably overoptimizing.
HCU came around. What was previously rewarded is now getting you penalized.
No site punished has recovered. The punitive design feels misguided.
